Women are usually aware that the menopause causes physical changes, however what is not always recognised is that it can also have a psychological impact as well. Currently one in four women in the UK say they are struggling to cope with aspects of their life due to their menopausal symptoms.
There are around 50 menopausal symptoms, and if you are experiencing just one or a combination of symptoms, they may start having an impact on how you show up and feel everyday both in your business and your personal life. These may continue for many years even after you have gone through the menopause or are “postmenopausal”.
In addition, this is often a time when there are lots of other things going on as well e.g. children leaving home, relationships changing, demanding careers, and possibly looking after elderly relatives to name just a few.
- You may worry about how everything is changing.
- You want to get back to feeling more like the “old” you but don’t know where to start.
The areas I particularly work with are self-esteem and/or stress. It may be these are problems you have never experienced before, I know that was the case for me. However both stress and self-esteem issues are common in the menopause, due in part to the changing and fluctuating hormones, and also to the other changes/strains/concerns of women during this time. As someone who has gone through the menopause myself I understand just how difficult the menopause can be on a number of levels.
The menopause may also be a time where you are reviewing your health, and I can also help with weight-loss and smoking.
